As a small employer (4 employees), my choices for health coverage are either a small group plan or an individual plan. I've found that small group plans, with their guarantee issue requirements and limited medical underwriting, carry quite a bit of sticker shock. Individual plans, on the other hand, while still quite expensive, are less expensive than small group coverage. And high-deductible, consumer-driven individual plans look like the best "bargain" for me and my family. This article supports the fact that CDHP are a good deal for both employees and employers.
